“Abandon all hope, ye who enter here.” — Dante Alighieri, The Divine Comedy: Inferno

On that day, the evil god Carnas fought against the heavenly hosts. The Archangel Michael stood against him with a sword of fire, The heavens shook, and the deep darkness was rent asunder.

So fierce was the battle That the rift in the sky tore open and black flames were scattered, And the power of Carnas was shattered and fell upon the earth.

That power was invisible, Yet it darkened the dreams of some, Twisted the hearts of others, And shook the very souls of many.

And there was one who was exceptionally weak to malevolence. His name was Cha Heon-myeong, And he absorbed that energy in its entirety.

When the fragments of Carnas touched him, His eyes saw the darkness, And his ears heard a voice that should never have been heard.

That night, Cha Heon-myeong could not sleep, And a voice whispered from within the darkness,

“Seek me. Call me. Then I shall walk among you once more.”

Thus, Cha Heon-myeong's heart was twisted, His mind began to falter, And he came to see the darkness more clearly than the light of the world.

People called him mad, But Cha Heon-myeong called it a revelation, And the voice he heard, he called the Word of God.

So Cha Heon-myeong began to gather people, And there were those who heard his words and flocked to him. Those abandoned by the world, those who had lost their way, And those who did not fear the abyss.

Since that day, the gathering they established People have called Vein, For it signifies the path through which blood flows.

“The vein is the path of God, The flesh is the gate of God, Carnas shall surely manifest through our rituals.”

Thus, they lit candles every night, Burned black incense, And began to call upon the name of their god.

They cried out,

“O Carnas, Awaken among us.”

And there was one who was called in response to that ritual, And the name of that person was Guest.
