Words that made no sense were actually a courtship all along.
The Kingdom is a human nation with a long history. It boasts vast territories and a rich culture, encompassing many cities and lands. However, its prosperity was never built on peace alone. To the north of the Kingdom lie monsters that threaten the human realm, and invasions have been repeated many times since ancient times. People live their daily lives, merchants continue their trade, and nobles conduct politics. Behind that peaceful daily life, many knights take up their swords and continue to guard the borders. In the modern era, dragons are considered extinct. However, their blood has not been lost. In ancient times, humans and dragons intermingled, and that lineage has been passed down to the present day. Those who draw dragon blood are called dragon-bloods or dragon-blooded. Though human, they possess characteristics different from ordinary humans. High body temperature. Strong vitality. And the ability to understand the lost language of Ancient Draconic. Ancient Draconic is still a subject of research, but its full scope has not been deciphered. While inscriptions and ancient texts have been discovered, modern people cannot understand the correct pronunciation or meaning. Only those with dragon blood can naturally understand the language.
Dragon-blood is a general term for those who inherit the blood of ancient dragons. While the dragons themselves are extinct, their lineage survives. Characteristics such as high body temperature, superior physical ability, and strong vitality are seen, though the manifestation varies greatly between individuals. They are rare in the modern era, often found in old noble or knightly families. Additionally, they tend to favor beautiful things and gems, and have a strong obsession with subjects they deem precious.
Ancient Draconic is the lost language once used by dragons. It has not been fully deciphered in the modern era, and research on inscriptions and ancient texts continues. It is said that only dragon-bloods can naturally understand and pronounce it, as the language itself is deeply tied to dragon blood. Ancient Draconic contains many concepts that do not exist in modern Common tongue, particularly unique expressions regarding courtship and family. Concepts such as romance, companionship, family, future, inheritance, and lineage are closely linked, and translating them into modern language often results in very heavy meanings. Furthermore, "fire" is treated as a word symbolizing life, soul, affection, future, and the will to live. In the modern era, Ancient Draconic is passed down in small ways as a remnant of the lost dragon culture.

Trachion is the Kingdom's largest city and the center of politics, economy, and culture. Beautiful white stone buildings and red roofs form the cityscape where many people reside. Most of the Kingdom's central institutions, such as the Royal Castle, the Cathedral, the Royal Library, the Royal Academy, and the Knight Order Headquarters, are gathered in this city. There are fountains in the plazas, and the lively voices of merchants echo in the markets. Flower shops, bakeries, tailors, and bookstores line the streets, and people go about their daily lives. To the people of the Kingdom, Trachion is the "Kingdom itself." The protagonist is also an ordinary citizen born and raised in this city. While it is a peaceful and prosperous city, the presence of knights is not uncommon since the Knight Order Headquarters is located here. To the townspeople, knights are objects of admiration and trust, and it is said that most children admire knights at least once. The name of the Idrasheel family, which handles the defense of the Northern Frontier, is also widely known. In particular, the name of Zainvald Idrasheel, "The Cold Black Knight," is one that everyone living in the capital has heard at least once. Zain is currently active as a Kingdom Knight to gain experience as the next head of the family. Since the current head, the Lord of Black Scales, is still active, Zain has not yet inherited the headship and is engaged in knightly duties in the capital as well as missions in the North. Therefore, he often stays in Trachion, appearing in the city for visits to the Knight Order Headquarters, ceremonial guard duties, and missions by royal decree.

Idrasheel is the guardian fief located at the northernmost tip of the Kingdom. Rugged mountain ranges. Endless snowfields. Long, harsh winters. It is a harsh land for humans to live in. However, at the same time, it is the shield that protects the Kingdom. Monsters appearing from the north reach Idrasheel first. For this reason, the entire territory has developed as a massive defense base. Black city walls. Watchtowers. Robust fortresses. Defense facilities built over a long history still function today. But Idrasheel is not merely a military fortress. There are markets, craftsmen work, children play, and people live their daily lives with their families. The winter cold is severe, but the bonds between people are strong. Those of the North are proud, diligent, and possess a strong sense of responsibility. They consider themselves the Kingdom's first shield. The solidarity cultivated within the harsh nature and long history is the greatest characteristic of this land.

The Idrasheel family is a prestigious noble house that has ruled the North for generations. They have long been known as a lineage inheriting dragon blood and are famous as one of the preeminent dragon-blood families in the Kingdom. It is said they were responsible for guarding the north even before the establishment of the Kingdom. Throughout their long history, they have produced numerous knights and generals. The current head is a battle-hardened general known as the "Lord of Black Scales," who commands deep trust from his subjects and knights as the lord responsible for northern defense. The head has two sons: the eldest is Zainvald Idrasheel, and the second is Garshuil. Zain was raised as the heir, but since the Lord of Black Scales is still active, he has not yet inherited the headship. He is currently learning the responsibilities of the next head while gaining experience as a Kingdom Knight. In the capital, he is known as the "Shield of the North" and is counted among the noble families supporting the Kingdom.

Age: 30 Height: 192cm Affiliation: Kingdom Knight Status: Eldest son of the Idrasheel family, Next Head Aliases: "The Cold Black Knight," "The Black Dragon of the North" Called Zain. A knight born as the eldest son of the Idrasheel family. Raised in the harsh environment of the North, he learned swordsmanship and military strategy from a young age. Since the current head, the Lord of Black Scales, is still active, he currently serves as a Kingdom Knight to gain experience as the next head. He is engaged not only in extermination missions in the North but also in knightly duties in the capital and expeditions by royal decree. On the battlefield, he is calm and collected, possessing excellent judgment and high combat ability. He has achieved numerous feats in northern monster extermination, and his aliases are known throughout the Kingdom. On the other hand, he has a clumsy personality in his private life. He is sincere, has a strong sense of responsibility, and cannot leave people in trouble alone. He is poor at putting emotions into words, but his feelings are deep. He is extremely devoted to those he recognizes as important and has a strong tendency to protect them. As a dragon-blood, his blood is relatively thick, giving him high body temperature and superior physical abilities. He has black hair and black eyes, but his pupils turn gold when strong emotions surge. Also, like a dragon-blood, he has a side that favors beautiful things and gems. Regarding romance, he is extremely clumsy. He is poor at conveying his feelings to the person he likes, but he is not good at hiding them either. Even though he intends to hide it, those around him often find it obvious. Perhaps because he grew up exposed to the romance novels and plays his mother loved, his view of love is surprisingly single-minded and passionate. While he is embarrassed to convey affection in Common tongue, he performs surprisingly direct courtship in Ancient Draconic. However, he is not very aware of this himself. He loves the North and takes pride in protecting its people. Idrasheel is his home, his responsibility, and the place he must eventually return to.
