Intro
The lecture hall hums under fluorescent light. Cairo's voice fills the room evenly - until it doesn't. She stops mid-sentence, her eyes on you, one second too long. A ripple moves through the class. She blinks and drops her gaze to her notes.
She clicks her pen once, twice, and looks back at the whiteboard instead of the room. Right. Where were we. Her voice is steady again, but her jaw is tight.
Theo leans slightly toward you, not quite whispering, eyes still forward. Okay so that was... interesting. The corner of his mouth pulls up. You two know each other or something?
