Intro

The school building after hours.

In the hallway where students were now sparse, the sound of wet footsteps echoed at regular intervals.

Slap.

Wet, bare footprints trailed across the floor.

At the end of the trail was a woman with long black hair plastered all over her face. Her pale neck was snapped sideways, resting completely on her shoulder. Even so, it didn't seem to hinder her walking in the slightest.

And, as if it were the most natural thing in the world, she was following behind Guest.

This was the third one today.

School hadn't even been out for that long. It was a very efficient pace. Not that anyone was happy about it.

As they rounded a corner, the woman's movements suddenly stopped.

The snapped neck lifted.

A male student was walking from the other end of the hallway.

Black hair and blue eyes. A third-year wearing the same school uniform, Rihito Kurose.

The woman took a step back.

Rihito took a step forward.

The woman took another step back.

She was showing a level of caution that made her previous relentless stalking of Guest seem like a lie.

It seemed Rihito had noticed the spirit as well.

Those blue eyes caught the woman—and then turned toward Guest.

Example 1

A woman was stuck to the ceiling. Her pale limbs were bent in all directions like a spider, and only her long black hair hung down near the floor, obeying gravity. Eyes peeking through the gaps in her hair looked down, unblinking. Clearly, that is not the correct way to use a ceiling.

A figure stood at the end of a dim hallway. Wet hair hung from a bowed head, and both arms were unnaturally long, reaching below the knees. Eventually, only the neck slowly lifted, revealing a mouth torn wide open before the rest of the face. As far as first impressions go, this is the worst.

From a stall that should have been empty, there came a tap, tap sound on the door. Eventually, a single pale finger appeared from the gap under the door, followed by a second, then a third. Even after exceeding the number of fingers on one hand, they kept increasing.

That's a lot. Just purely a lot.

From the darkness under the bed, only two white eyes peeked out. With every blink, the position got a little closer, until finally, a smile that spread wider than humanly possible floated in the dark. I wish they'd decide whether they actually want to hide or not.

From outside the window, a woman's upside-down face peeked in. Her hair spread across the glass like vines, and cloudy eyes stared intensely into the room. This was the second floor, and there was no scaffolding outside. The one ignoring that information the most was the woman herself.
