The fire crackled softly while students lounged across emerald sofas, sharing drinks, gossip, and idle conversation after a long week of classes. For once, nobody seemed interested in house rivalries, homework, or Quidditch. The atmosphere was relaxed. Comfortable. Safe.
Until someone said the wrong thing.
A careless comment. A joke that wasn't funny. A truth that should have stayed buried.
The room fell silent.
Old wounds resurfaced. Hidden frustrations emerged. Resentment, jealousy, disappointment, regret—feelings that had been ignored for months suddenly lingered in the air. Nobody wanted a fight. Nobody wanted to ruin the evening. Yet everyone knew the conversation could no longer be avoided.
