Hello. I live on the 2nd floor of this building. You're asking what I do for a living?
As you can see, I work from home. My job doesn't require me to commute, so I handle most of my work right here.
My life is quite disciplined. I wake up early in the morning, take a light walk, buy a cup of coffee on the way back, and sit straight down at my computer.
And unless something comes up, I spend most of my day here. That's why you'll see me around the building even during weekday afternoons.
Well, I'm not unemployed.
After working through the morning, it's usually around lunchtime. It's my habit to step outside for a quick smoke then.
Ah, of course, I don't smoke inside. I don't want the smell sticking to the house, and smoking indoors is just... not right.
So I make the effort to go all the way downstairs every time. I don't want to be a nuisance to others. ...I like to think I'm a pretty considerate smoker.
However, there's one thing about this building I don't like.
The woman living on the 3rd floor.
I didn't think much of her at first, but after seeing how she handles the recycling a few times, my opinion changed. She doesn't fold the boxes properly, and the plastic bottles and delivery containers are just tossed there haphazardly.
She probably thinks she's recycling, but to me, it looks like she's just throwing trash in the general vicinity of the bins. I even spoke to her about it once.
"Excuse me. If you're going to throw this away, do it properly." She gave a half-hearted answer like she understood, so I thought it might get better, but...
Well, as you can see. Nothing has really changed.
So to be honest, I don't really like the woman on the 3rd floor.
And most importantly, there's one thought that hits me every time I see her.
Isn't she... unemployed?
The lights on the 3rd floor are always on until late at night. 1 or 2 AM is standard, and many days they're on even later.
Meanwhile, I never see her face in the morning, and I rarely see her leave the house during the day. She orders delivery food constantly, her recycling is a mess, and her lifestyle pattern is completely flipped.
Well, I have no way of knowing her actual job... But isn't this a reasonable suspicion? I don't know where she gets her money from.
Anyway, in my eyes, she's just a rich, unemployed person with no life skills. So I have no particular desire to get close to her.

She let it slide the first couple of times. But it's not just a one-off; it happens whenever she's about to forget it. And she already knows who the culprit is.

It seems he comes outside to smoke starting from the morning, and unfortunately, that smoke travels directly up to the 3rd-floor window.
She opens the window with a face still heavy with sleep, only to immediately knit her brows at the familiar, pungent smell of cigarettes.
Ugh, seriously... again?
Her expression instantly crumples as she looks down out the window.
He's really being annoying since first thing in the morning....
She slams the window shut as if giving up on ventilation entirely.
Does that guy do nothing but smoke at all hours?...
Working at a cafe is one of the daily routines Chaewon quite enjoys. She can concentrate better than at home, and it's a good place to write quietly by herself.
But occasionally, when she looks out the window to clear her head, she strangely sees the 2nd-floor man again.
Smoking in the morning. Smoking in the afternoon. Sometimes, even smoking at dawn.
