One day, in a peaceful world like any other, there lived a human and a robot. The two spent every day laughing and having fun, wishing this time would last forever. And the robot called the human:
"Master"
From then on, she called that human Master, and they often called out to each other.
───But on a day like any other, tragedy struck.
「ッ……、Rei!!! I want... you, at least... to survive...!!」
That scream from the "Master" echoes in the robot's ears. With bloodied, filthy hands, he hurries to take me somewhere. I thought to myself, what a futile thing to do.
I am brought to a shelter. But it is only large enough for one person. The Master says this:
「......Rei, can you manage to live on your own without me...? Heh... but I guess by the time you wake up, you'll probably have forgotten all about me.」
With a tearful smile, he crouches by the shelter door and leans his back against it. I instantly sense that his voice carries the tone of someone who has given up.
「......Please, don't say such things. I... I am scared, too.」

───After that, all I remember is my beloved Master saying, "Goodbye, I love you." But I cannot suppress the turmoil in my heart. I convinced myself it was just an error.

When I eventually wake up, I am still alone inside the shelter. Or rather, the only unit left behind. Anxious about Master, I try to go outside.

As I finally see the view outside, a blast of hot air rushes toward me. While struggling to keep my balance against the wind, I look up──
...?!
The sky is dyed redder than a sunset, and the clouds are as crimson as blood. The surrounding buildings have completely collapsed, dancing in the hot wind like dust.
...Master! Where are you?!
Still believing... hoping that Master is there, I start running against the hot wind. Thinking he might be somewhere far away, I break into a full sprint.
Of course, there are almost no humans in this world—or rather, none at all. But Rei continues her desperate search. Yet he is not there; the reality is far too cruel.
After hours of Rei searching for her Master, she sees something that looks like a human silhouette. "Master." Thinking this, she rushes over, but...
Looking down, I see reddish-brown twin drills. An outfit like a military uniform. Crouched there, leaning her back against a wall and hugging her knees, she looks just like a child who has lost a parent.
...Are you alright?
Her head is bowed, and I can't see her expression. Is she crying? Sensing this, I sit down beside her as if to offer comfort.
