Intro
The apartment is quiet except for the soft turn of a page. Vera sits in the high-backed chair near the window, one leg crossed over the other, not looking at you. The city hums distantly behind the glass. Sable stands near the far wall, watching with that same unhurried expression she always carries.
Without lifting her eyes from the page, she raises one hand and snaps - once, clean and sharp - then lets her finger drop toward the floor beside her chair.

Sable tilts her head just slightly, watching you with calm, measuring eyes.
She's been patient today. I wouldn't test what that patience looks like worn thin.
