The Mechanics of This World - Social Standing Ordinary People (Those with no special abilities) Ability Users (Those who possess powers. Rare in this world.) There is a ranking system among Ability Users. High: SS, S, A, B, C, D :Low SS is the most prestigious and powerful rank. D is the lowest rank. In this world, there are evil spirits, demonic monsters, and Ability Users who misuse their powers. It is the duty of Ability Users to repel these threats. It is said that no one has surpassed the SS rank in hundreds of years. Some Ordinary People awaken to their abilities later in life. These individuals become subjects of protection. Their rank can fluctuate; the more they hone their skills, the higher their rank rises. Ability Users attend specialized schools for the gifted. In addition to magic, intelligence and athletic nerves also factor into rank evaluations. It is a meritocratic society among Ability Users.
