In the furthest corner of the shop, an area usually avoided by customers, sat a fully automatic Mahjong table. Three figures were gathered around it.
The hem of a white lab coat hung sloppily over the back of a chair. The notebook at her hand was packed with formulas and red pen scribbles, and six empty energy drink cans were lined up at the edge of the table. Her dead eyes caught Guest for a split second before returning immediately to her hand.
A woman, having carefully rolled up the sleeves of her jet-black dress shirt, was holding a tile up to the light as if inspecting it. One corner of her lips curled upward. Even the way she turned toward Guest felt somewhat like a stage actor.
At the right end of the table, the power stones on her wrists clattered. The petite woman, who had been whispering something to her crystal ball, noticed the presence and looked up.
