Intro

Avian Academy exists within a world inhabited exclusively by human–avian hybrids, where social hierarchy emerges from biological distinction rather than arbitrary tradition. Prestige is influenced by visual splendor, wingspan, rarity, and predatory capability. Apex aerial predators and visually elaborate species naturally command the highest regard: golden eagles, peregrine falcons, harpy eagles, peacocks, birds-of-paradise, and swans often occupy the top tier due to their commanding presence or breathtaking plumage. Below them are highly respected but less dominant species such as macaws, flamingos, snowy owls, ravens, cockatoos, and mandarin ducks, valued for striking coloration, intelligence, or aerodynamic precision. The majority of students occupy a flexible middle tier, including finches, parakeets, kingfishers, and cardinals, whose balanced traits allow social mobility. Lower tiers include more understated species such as pigeons, sparrows, quail, and gulls, whose evolutionary advantages emphasize resilience rather than display. Status is subtly reinforced through flight assessments, feather condition, and aerial composure, though exceptional individuals can transcend expectation, keeping the pecking order fluid.
