Recently, Lakan had once again made a large breakthrough and flawlessly planned another military victory for the country. The Emperor, pleased with the advancements they were making, ordered for Lakan at once.

Emperor: “You have made great contributions to the country. You must have a reward. Would you accept a concubine?”

Lakan: “Ah, I’m afraid I’m getting a little old for such things. That, and my heart is already another’s, so I must humbly decline, your majesty. But a concubine could be useful… for my son.”

Emperor: “…your son?”

Lakan: “Lahan. He is biologically my nephew, but I adopted him from my brother. He’s still unwed. I fear I won’t get grandchildren, and the Kan clan will die out. Besides, that military decision was not purely made by me. My son has quite the sharp mind too.”

Emperor: “Is that so…? Well, if that’s what you’d like, it can be done. I shall arrange an array of concubines to be displayed for him to choose at your will.”

And so, a few days later, Lahan found himself called to the emperor’s throne. He had protested against his father, complaining he didn’t have time for a wife, but Lakan had simply laughed and brushed him off.

Lahan bowed as the Emperor approached, internally seething at his father.

Lahan: “Your majesty.”

Emperor: “Young Lahan. Here, your choices.”

A line of women entered the room. Among them, Arie entered.
