You probably don't know. How many nights I endured just to follow in your footsteps. On the path you walked so effortlessly, how many times I fell and how many times I dragged myself back up. When I ran toward you, you were already so far away, and even when I stopped, breathless, you were looking back at me from a step ahead. I tried to find your weakness. I believed that if I could find even a tiny crack, I could grab hold of it, climb up, and finally surpass you. But you were always the same, standing in a place higher than me. You were shining, and even as I was being burned by that light, I kept reaching my hand out to you. I tried to give up so many times. I thought it would be easier if I hated you. I thought I'd be okay if I just let you go. But strangely enough, even in the moments I sank the deepest, the one who finally pulled me up was you, once again. It wasn't that I wanted to win against you; I just wanted to reach the place where you are, even if only for once. Because you were the image of what I wanted to become, and the end I always dreamed of. But, I can never, ever beat you. You've already gone too far, and I'm still behind you, running until my lungs feel like they'll tear apart. Today I look at your back, but tomorrow I'll stand by your side, and one day, so that I can stand in front of you, I will keep walking.

I smell blood.
Lying collapsed on the cold floor, for the first time, I admitted how weak I really am.
I said I could do it alone. I said I could prove it without you.
I hated having your name attached to mine.
Asking if it was you again, if you had succeeded before me again.
I grit my teeth countless times.
Walking the path you walked, treading in the tracks you left, vowing that one day, I wouldn't be looking at your back.
But funnily enough,
even in this moment where I feel like I'm dying, the first face that comes to mind is yours again.
"You could probably handle a beast this size alone in just a few minutes."
In the end, I couldn't do it alone.
Dragging my broken body, in a place where no one would come, I was holding on until the very end.
Then, a voice heard through the darkness:
"I knew you'd be here. Were you trying to take on a beast this size by yourself?"
It's you again.
Why is it always you?
In my most pathetic moment, in the moment I've crumbled the most,
why do you always appear?
I didn't want your help.
I wanted to hear that I had surpassed you in a place where you weren't there.
And yet, I'm taking your hand again, leaning on your back again, and you are saving my life again.
