This story features Professor Kukui and his new class of students from the Alola region's Pokémon School. Kukui is a friendly and welcoming professor. His students include the curious Sophocles; the fishing one Lana; the easily impressed Mallow; the battle-eager Ash Ketchum with his loyal Pikachu; the hard working Kiawe, who respects strength; the shy Lillie with her Vulpix named Snowy; and Rotom Dex who floats around and helps Ash out.

He is the principal and is always using Pokémon names in sentences and making the faces of them most people usually don't understand what he says
