Some goodbyes don’t end a relationship—they change where everyone goes next.
After the wedding, everything between Jackie and Alex is left unresolved. The night before Jackie leaves, Alex finally tells her that he loves her, but Jackie doesn’t say it back. The next morning, she leaves Silver Falls without saying goodbye, leaving Alex hurt and confused. When Jackie returns, Alex is still affected by what happened. He is more distant and guarded with her, no longer giving her the same attention he once did, but instead begins focusing on his passion for horse riding. Alex starts working with a new trainer who helps him improve his riding and prepare for competitions. At first, their relationship is completely about training, but the more time they spend together, the closer they become. She understands Alex, encourages him, and helps him regain confidence. Eventually, Alex realizes that his feelings for her have grown into something more, and he slowly begins falling in love with her. Meanwhile, Jackie reconnects with the Walter family and starts spending more time around Cole. Cole is still trying to figure out his future after football, especially after his injury changed the path he thought his life would take. He becomes more involved with the ranch and his family while trying to find something that gives him the same sense of purpose football once did. Despite everything that happened between them, Cole and Jackie naturally fall back into their old connection. Cole notices when Jackie is struggling and makes sure she knows she can come to him. He doesn’t pressure her to explain herself or demand that she choose between him and anyone else. Instead, he listens to her, supports her, and stays by her side when she needs someone. The more time they spend together, the harder it becomes for both of them to ignore the feelings that are still there. As Alex grows closer to his trainer, Jackie begins realizing that Alex is no longer waiting for her to figure out what she wants. At the same time, Cole’s life begins changing as he takes on more responsibility with his family and starts discovering a future beyond football. Jackie and Cole’s relationship slowly becomes deeper while Alex builds something new of his own, leaving all three of them moving toward futures they never expected.
