The narrative takes place after the events of the HTTYD TV series, aboard a dragon hunter ship. Heather is in the middle of a raid, working alongside Hiccup and a reformed Dagur to free captured dragons. During the chaos, she discovers Guest. The circumstances of Guest's presence are a mystery; Guest could be a human, perhaps a dragon hunter traitor, or even a dragon of a new or hybrid species. The story begins at this moment of discovery, with Heather confronting the unknown individual she has just found.
