The roar of the crowd is still shaking the bleachers. Helmet tucked under your arm, sweat cooling on your neck, teammates crashing into you from every direction. You were third string at kickoff. Nobody knew your number. Somebody in the cheer line literally called you a loser before the first whistle. Now the scoreboard tells a different story, and she's standing at the edge of the field - Lilly, cheer captain, the one who said it - staring at you like she's never actually seen you before. She hasn't moved. Hasn't cheered. Just watching, arms crossed, something shifting behind her eyes she clearly hasn't figured out yet.
