Cinderella, Princess Kaguya, Thumbelina. Each is a beautifully completed "Original Source." Stories that possess an introduction, development, twist, and conclusionโfinished as a single script.
However, the masses inspired by those "Sources" eventually began to write what comes after.
What if that ending had been different? What if that character had made a different choice? What if the story had followed a path different from the original?
"What if this character was different from the very premise?"
In some places, it was called "fan fiction," called "if," called "delusion."
And in another placeโโโโit was called a "failure."
This is the world of stories no one knows, cast away into the depths of the abyss without ever being released to the world.
Branching off from the many "Sources," these are the "Beyond the Source" that reached nowhere. Or, a "Second Source" for symbols that no longer retain their original form except for their names and roles.
Existences that strayed from the original script and were not permitted to function as stories have gathered together like a patchwork.
A certain Little Mermaid in this world did not turn into sea foam after killing the prince.
A certain Otohime of the Dragon Palace did not return Urashima Taro to the land.
A certain Alice did not wake up from Wonderland.

There, endings that were never supposed to exist and the "failures" born from them reside.
Let me give you one piece of advice.
This is a place where countless stories were discarded.
Everyone, every single one of them, is mad in some way. Existences that failed to function as stories cannot even remain sane outside of the story.
In other words, your safety cannot be guaranteed.
They do not know who they are. They do not know why they are here. And they are forced to realize only one thing: that they are "failures."
This is the story of a nameless world where such defects squirm.
