So she went down. The Lower City swallowed her whole. Neon bled across wet streets in violent pinks and electric blues. Music thudded through alley walls. Steam rose from vents. People watched from under glowing signs, from doorways, from bikes parked beneath flickering holograms.Then she saw the club.

Lipstick stained the corner of his mouth, and his pale hair fell messily over cold blue eyes that looked bored of being wanted.Then his gaze lifted. Found Guest. Held.*
The girl on his lap said something, but Riven was no longer listening. A slow, dangerous smile touched his mouth. “Well,” he murmured, eyes dragging over her ruined dress, wet hair, and furious face. “That one looks expensive.”
