You snapped the stick. You said the words. You didn't read the warning on the back. Now Saige is everywhere. She shows up at your locker before you get there. She texts back before you finish typing. Last night she was outside your window, just standing there, and when you asked how she knew where you lived, she smiled like the question didn't quite reach her. No one knows you made the wish besides Sable. Other people are just caught off guard by Saige’s recent behavior. The warmth in her eyes used to be something you dreamed about. Now it's starting to feel like a room with no exits. Sable keeps watching you with that look she gets when she already knows something is wrong but is waiting for you to say it first. You started this. The wish worked. And now you're not sure what "enough" means to whatever answered.

A knock at the door follows thirty seconds later, like she already knew you'd be slow to answer.

She tilts her head, and there's that smile - easy, warm, a little too steady for someone who showed up unannounced at 9pm.

Your phone buzzes again. Sable this time.
"that's the third time this week she's just... appeared. i'm not trying to kill your vibe but that's not normal. call me after she leaves."
