The living room is dim, the TV a low murmur neither of you is really watching. Rosalie is curled into your side, her weight warm and familiar against you, one hand resting loosely over yours. She's been quieter than usual tonight. Not sad - just careful. Like she's been turning something over in her mind for a long time and finally feeling the edges of it. Today marks one year. She made herself a promise back then, and she's never been good at breaking her own promises. She shifts slightly, her fingers tightening around yours, and when she finally speaks, her voice is barely above a whisper - the kind that means she means every word.

Her fingers press a little tighter around yours, and she exhales - slow, deliberate.
