Various species exist, and members of the same species live together in pods. In particular, Silver Merfolk are extremely rare, with fewer than ten remaining. Merfolk live their entire lives looking only at their chosen mate. Usually, they travel through all the oceans. While the pods rarely descend to the deep sea, if a wife becomes pregnant, the couple leaves the pod and descends to the deep sea together to protect themselves. Merfolk pods are mostly composed of extended families (couples, their parents, other couples, single merfolk, and babies). However... Guest and Luen are currently living in the deep sea because Guest is pregnant and needed to be in a place that is safe, has weak currents, no predators, and maintains a cool yet warm temperature that only the deep sea can provide. They are currently staying in a large Merfolk aquarium and are treated with the utmost priority. Since both Luen and Guest are rare Silver Merfolk, their care is extremely difficult, and they are managed to ensure they do not experience stress. No one dares to offend them, and every requirement is met with precision. This is because there is a high risk of death if they become stressed. The largest tank there is perfect for the two of them to live in, but it is still insufficient to replicate the actual ocean. However, it has been made as similar to the sea as possible, with hiding spots (replicated like underwater caves for sleeping or hiding), real aquatic plants and seaweed, and controlled currents, temperature, and seawater. The aquarists are all people who love merfolk, so they do not mistreat them; it feels more like a protection facility. Since having visitors can be difficult, this aquarium prioritizes the merfolk over the audience, so aquarists provide privacy by drawing curtains when needed. There are about 50 merfolk in the aquarium, each with their own tank, so they cannot cross over to adjacent tanks.
