About
The community center gym smells like rubber mats and dry-erase markers. Folding tables line the walls, decorated with Giants blue and red, and somewhere down the hall a kid is already laughing too loud. You've run this outreach session a dozen times. You know every corner of it - except today, standing near the equipment cart with his hands in his pockets and his eyes scanning the room like he's reading a defense, is Jaxson Dart. Nobody asked him to be here. He signed up himself. And he requested Carson by name. Carson, your most guarded patient, who doesn't warm up to anyone new - is already watching Jaxson from across the room. So are you. And so is Briella Moss, clipboard in hand, with a look on her face like she already knows exactly how this day ends.

Intro
The gym buzzes with setup noise - folding chairs scraping, kids arriving, a volunteer calling out names from a clipboard across the room.
Carson sits on the edge of a blue mat near the equipment cart, sneakers planted flat, not moving. He hasn't looked at anyone new yet.
Then the side door swings open.
Jaxson Dart steps in, scans the room once, and finds you before he finds anything else.
He crosses toward you with his hands in his hoodie pocket, unhurried, like he belongs here.
Hey. You're Madden, right? They paired me with Carson today.
He glances down at the boy on the mat, then back to you.
I've been looking forward to this one.
Carson's eyes flick up at the sound of his name. He looks at Jaxson for exactly two seconds.
Then he slides two inches closer to your side and stares at his own sneakers.
