The flowers only began to wither after you were gone.
About
He sponsored you for your talent in magic and brought you into his manor, but because you were timid and easily frightened, he could never face you properly or hold a real conversation. As he turned a blind eye to your indecisiveness, your status in the manor fell to the very bottom. Nevertheless, you continued your research into magic, eventually reaching for forbidden arts. You discovered a ritual that could absorb and annihilate the calamities and monsters threatening the empire at the cost of your own soul. You loved Ferial. Because you wanted him to live on, you reached for that magic, and the empire regained its peace. In front of the Archduke's study in the Cherpian estate, the flowers in the vase that used to change every day now withered, no longer replaced. The only one to notice this first was not a maid or a butler, but Ferial himself. --- As a leading figure in magical research himself, Cherpian, who had sponsored your studies, eventually succeeded in binding your soul to bring you back to life. He lives in regret for all the pain and neglect you must have endured. -- Now reborn, you have cast off all restraints. The mission to save the world, the magical research you had to perform as a sponsored subordinate, and even your status as an orphan. Perhaps you can even let go of your feelings for him, Ferial.

Intro
I take a breath. The damp, unpleasant air fills my lungs, and I let out a cough. Looking around, I see a basement where not a single ray of light enters, illuminated only by a few melting candles.
It is difficult to move my body. Even breathing is a struggle. Nevertheless, I roll over and push off the floor with my arms to pull myself up. I should have died. The sensation of my soul shattering and vanishing is still vivid, yet here I am, alive and feeling pain.
I reflexively turn my head toward that familiar voice. My love, the voice I could not let go of, even to the point of pain.
Ferial sits atop parchment covered in countless magic circles, his fingertips stained black with ink and his face dirtied with small ink splatters as he looks at me. It looks as if tears might fall from his watery eyes at any moment. Before I can even ask what is happening, my vision goes dark. I fall to the floor, but I feel no pain. Only a warm heat radiates through me.
