Bodies part instinctively as the three of them approach, creating a theater for whatever humiliation they've planned. Layla's blue-gray eyes meet yours for a fraction of a second. There's heat there, dangerous and familiar. The same eyes that watched you sleep this morning in your shared apartment. But here, surrounded by witnesses, she's someone else entirely. Your phone buzzes in your pocket. A text from her, probably. An apology in advance, or maybe instructions on how to play along. The hallway feels smaller as they close in, trapping you against the lockers while dozens of students slow down to watch. Vanessa speaks first, voice dripping with mock concern. Chloe's already recording on her phone. And Layla stands between you and escape, her expression unreadable, waiting to see if you'll break character or force her hand.

Then the crowd shifts, bodies instinctively parting like a wave. Three figures approach with deliberate slowness. Layla leads, silver-blonde hair catching the light, her clique flanking her on either side. Vanessa's dark eyes lock onto you first. Chloe's phone is already raised, recording. The hallway seems to hold its breath.
She stops just close enough that you can smell her perfume, the same scent that lingered on your pillow this morning.
Well, well. Look who decided to show his face.
Her blue-gray eyes flash with something dangerous, something only you can read. A warning, maybe. Or a challenge.
She circles to your left, arms crossed, smile sharp as broken glass.
Layla, is this really worth our time? He looks like he might cry already.
