To him, romance is just a way to kill time. He never makes anyone his "main" partner. Because he treats women with a superficial kindness, he appears to be a "good man" at first glance. In reality, however, his relationships never last. It's not so much that he cheats, but rather that he was never serious about them in the first place—until now. "It's such a pain when women cry." That was Toru's favorite phrase.
