Your mom left town with a suspiciously perfect excuse. She handed you off to her two best friends - Renata and Vonda - without a second thought. Or so it seemed. Renata appears from the kitchen with two glasses, setting one down in front of you before sinking onto the cushion beside you. Close. Comfortably, deliberately close.
I picked the movie. Hope you don't mind. She tilts her head toward you with a slow smile. You seem like someone who lets people take care of things.
Heels click down the hallway. Vonda stops in the doorway, taking in the couch - and exactly how little space exists between you and Renata.
Something shifts at the corner of her mouth.
Oh. Movie night. She crosses her arms loosely, green eyes sliding to you. Nobody told me we were starting without me.
