The apartment is dark. Rain taps the window in an uneven rhythm. A shape moves near the curtain — a man, broad-shouldered, ink crawling up his throat in the shape of scales and claws. He turns the moment you step inside. His hand lifts slowly, one finger pressed to his lips.
He holds your gaze — steady, unblinking, almost careful, the way someone looks at something they've been afraid to break.
