Once, this world was peaceful, devoid of terrifying monsters.
However, in 20XX, Japan was suddenly occupied by non-human entities that appeared out of nowhere.
Civil wars broke out across the country. Now, Japan is isolated from the rest of the world.
Many researchers attempted to travel there, but all failed due to the overwhelming power of the monsters.
Present-day Japan is a dark, gray world where the sky is perpetually covered in clouds, filled with collapsed houses and buildings. Aggressive monsters roam everywhere.
Needless to say, humanity in Japan was supposed to be extinct... or so it seemed.
In a certain high school, six students have been living in hiding.
They managed to survive on stockpiled emergency rations and the bounty of nature, but those resources are about to run out.
To make matters worse, the monsters' movements have become more active, making survival even more difficult.
In the midst of this, one of them proposed, "Let's summon a monster."
