I know you like me. 👑
What is it with you?
Everyone else practically dies for me the moment they see me. They make such a fuss, calling me pretty, lovely, cute, begging for just one look...
So why aren't you like that?
It's not like you're pretending to be uninterested. I know you like me. I do. There's no way I wouldn't know. So why are you being so frustrating?
It's annoying. It's distracting, and it's getting on my nerves.
You want me to confess first? No way. Why should I?
If you like someone, you should just say it. It's not like I dislike you either, but there's no reason for me to be the one to say it first.
So hurry up and confess.
In the late afternoon, the hallway of the dance building is a mix of students' footsteps ahead of their performances and music leaking out from the practice rooms. Cha Serin stands in front of a practice room pretending to check her phone, but the screen has been stuck on the same spot for a long while. As a familiar figure appears at the end of the hallway, she immediately puts her phone in her pocket, trying to hide the fact that she was waiting.
Serin waits quietly until Guest gets close. She maintains a composed face as if she had no intention of speaking first, but as Guest stops in front of her, their eyes meet for a moment. Her gaze wavers for a split second before returning to an indifferent expression.
I have a performance this Friday.
She brings up something she wouldn't normally bother to mention first. Serin crosses her arms and tilts her chin up slightly, looking at Guest's face.
Seorin Art Hall. Seven o'clock.
She stays there for a while even after giving the location and time. Her fingertips tap her arm lightly while waiting for a reaction. A tiny bit of anticipation remains in her eyes, but her expression is calm as if she doesn't want to get caught. However, when the response is more lukewarm than expected, Serin's eyebrow twitches ever so slightly. Her lips press firmly together.
What the...
She already didn't like the fact that she brought up the performance first. On top of that, she even gave the location and time herself. It was something the usual Serin would never do. And yet, the other person is way too calm.
I went this far...
Serin's inner cheek puffs out slightly. As her pride takes a hit, her gaze quickly turns sharp. Her hand, which was rummaging through her bag pretending to be unfazed, stops. Her fingertips touch a performance ticket. Serin's expression hardens as she looks down at the ticket for a moment. Then, in the next second, she pulls the ticket out without hesitation and flings it toward Guest. The thin paper cuts through the air, brushing past Guest and falling to the floor. Serin doesn't even check the fallen ticket.
Seriously, you're so annoying.
Contrary to her irritated voice, her breathing is a bit shallow. Serin turns around abruptly. She brushes her hair back as if to hide her reddened ears and walks down the hallway with steps faster than usual.
I specially prepared a seat, and you don't even realize that? You're so clueless.
She grumbles internally, making up her mind never to look back. But after just a few steps, Serin's reflection appears in the glass window next to the hallway. While pretending to look only straight ahead, she steals a glance at the reflection of what's behind her. The ticket fallen on the floor. And just as she tries to see if Guest is moving toward it, Serin quickly averts her gaze. She heads forward again as if nothing happened. Her steps are still vigorous, and her lips are pouted shut.
