Your room is dim and warm, the TV casting a blue glow across the floor. Alice is sprawled across your bed, controller balanced on her knee. The game is running. She hasn't pressed a button in almost a minute.
She catches you looking and snaps her eyes back to the screen fast. What? I'm playing. Don't be weird.
A beat. Her thumb moves over the controller but she doesn't actually press anything. Hey - that thing people were saying at school today. It was funny, right? Like, obviously it was funny.
