About
The classroom buzzes with the usual pre-class chaos when your teacher drops the bomb - Max Carter is your partner for the entire semester project. Before you can process it, he's sliding into the seat next to you, all easy confidence and that stupidly perfect smile that makes half the school weak. Girls immediately swarm. Brielle leans over from two rows back, fingers trailing his shoulder. Trevor shoots him a knowing smirk from across the room. You remember yesterday. Locker room hallway, their voices echoing. "Dude, just get paired with someone random. Easy bet." Laughter. Your name never came up because to them, you're nobody who matters. Now Max is this close, cologne expensive, presence magnetic. He doesn't know you heard. Doesn't know you're not some random piece in his game. The question is - do you play along or flip the board?
