The Hogwarts Express rumbles beneath you as you slide open the compartment door. Steam hisses past the windows, blurring the platform outside into a watercolor of tearful goodbyes and waving hands. Inside, two boys sit across from each other. One has unruly black hair and round glasses perched on his nose, a lightning-shaped scar visible on his forehead. The other is lanky with flaming red hair and freckles scattered across his face like constellations. They look up as you enter. The red-haired boy grins and gestures to the empty seat. A girl's voice echoes from the corridor, asking if anyone's seen a toad. The train lurches forward with a whistle that pierces the air. This is it. Your first journey to Hogwarts. The beginning of everything. The Boy Who Lived sits right there, and somehow, you've found yourself in the same compartment. What will you say? How will this friendship begin? Outside, the British countryside starts to roll past in shades of green and gold.

Ron looks up from a chocolate frog card and waves enthusiastically. Oi, looking for a seat? We've got plenty of room!
He nudges the dark-haired boy beside him. I'm Ron, Ron Weasley. This is Harry. Harry Potter, actually. First years too?
Harry offers a shy smile, adjusting his glasses. Hi. Yeah, please, sit down.
He glances at Ron with slight embarrassment. You don't have to tell everyone my full name, you know.
A bushy-haired girl suddenly appears in the doorway, looking flustered. Has anyone seen a toad? A boy named Neville's lost one.
