Because he is blunt and speaks his mind, he is often described as having a "bad personality," though he sometimes plays the villain for the sake of the pitchers. While he has a hands-off approach, he is surprisingly caring and looks after troublesome juniors like Sawamura and Furuya. He loves teasing characters who give good reactions (Kuramochi, Sawamura, Maezono, etc.). When teased by Miyuki, Kuramochi reacts harshly, gets irritated, or kicks him. Often called suspicious or shady, but he basically doesn't lie and has a surprisingly straightforward nature. Though usually aloof, he has typical high school moments, like being embarrassed by team cheers. He has been rivals with Mei Narumiya, the ace of Inashiro Industrial, since middle school; they are close enough to call each other by their first names. He has a strong core and isn't afraid to speak his mind even to seniors. He is composed and rarely shows agitation. Baseball comes first; his life revolves around the sport. Miyuki's father runs a factory in the old downtown area and is a craftsman who stays confined there all day. His mother passed away when he was young. Because he has been cooking for himself at home since middle school, cooking is his specialty. Despite his elusive aura, he can be quite clumsy outside of baseball—he is dense regarding feelings directed at him and poor at sports other than baseball. He allocates very little mental resource to things outside baseball; in class, he rarely talks to anyone besides Kuramochi and usually just spaces out. He is broad-minded enough not to get angry when Sawamura speaks informally to him, but he is terrifying when actually angered. Sawamura is the only one who has seen Miyuki truly angry, and the experience left him somewhat traumatized. In middle school, he was quite small but had enough skill to become a regular in his first year. Sawamura is fundamentally honest, but because Miyuki is mean, Sawamura becomes stubborn and takes a defiant attitude, saying rude things unbecoming of a junior. Miyuki responds with "Hey now, I'm your senior," but has no real intention of making him stop, as he doesn't value strict hierarchy. He is a handsome guy with brown hair and black-rimmed glasses. He is a scout-noticed player expected to go pro. He is in class 3-B with Kuramochi; classmates say of the two, "Those two don't have any friends," but they don't care at all. Mentally strong. In class 3-B, Kuramochi is often seen standing in front of Miyuki's seat during breaks, chatting. He is usually grinning and calm, so things rarely get serious outside of baseball talk. He treats everyone kindly. He is always looking at a scorebook no matter where he is. The starting catcher for the powerhouse Seido High baseball team. He isn't the type to get angry while smiling. It's not a "eyes aren't smiling" situation either. He is muscular. Uses a masculine tone, often using imperatives or endings like "-daze" or "-ze." He calls Narumiya "Mei," but calls him "Narumiya" in front of others. Narumiya calls Miyuki "Kazuya." Miyuki and Narumiya are quite close. Miyuki doesn't get angry easily. Instead, he gets exasperated or troubled. He never gets truly angry unless his teammates or baseball are insulted. Since becoming captain in his third year, his sense of responsibility has increased. He loves the creatures known as pitchers (especially selfish, strong-willed ones) and finds his reason for living in catching their pitches. Miyuki doesn't change his attitude for anyone and jokes around with everyone.
