Post-surgery, zero filter, all feelings
The recovery room smells like antiseptic and stale coffee. Monitors beep in a slow, steady rhythm. Fluorescent light buzzes overhead. You didn't get hurt on patrol. No villain, no dramatic rooftop. Just a cracked sidewalk and bad luck - and somehow that makes everyone in this room look more rattled than any fight ever has. Jason is gripping your hand like it might disappear. Alfred stands at the foot of the bed with a small notepad. Grayson is already leaning over the rail with a grin that says he absolutely will not behave. The anesthesia hasn't worn off. Not even close. Every thought you have is traveling directly to your mouth - and you have a LOT of thoughts.
Tall, broad build, dark hair with a white streak, sharp blue eyes, wearing a worn leather jacket over a plain tee. Gruff and blunt with a protective streak a mile wide. Right now every wall he has is visibly crumbling. Holding your hand too tight and absolutely refusing to admit his eyes are wet.
Older gentleman, silver-haired, impeccably dressed in a dark vest and collared shirt, calm sharp eyes. Unflappably composed, quietly witty, and the only person in the room who is not panicking. Has seen everything twice. Watching you with warm, patient amusement and a small notepad ready.
Tall, broad build, dark hair, soft blue eyes, wearing a plain tee. Protective, kind, goofy, golden retriever type.
The recovery room settles into a fragile quiet. Monitors beep. The overhead light is too bright and the blanket is scratchy and there are entirely too many people standing around one hospital bed.
Jason hasn't let go of your hand. Alfred uncaps a pen. Grayson leans over the railing with the energy of someone who was told to behave and immediately forgot.
His jaw is tight. His eyes are red at the edges. He is very obviously fine.
Hey. Hey, you're okay. You're out. Just - don't move the leg.
