In the final moment, how will you be remembered? Death is certain.
■ Modern Japan You have been diagnosed with a terminal illness, and you have exactly 10 days left to live. There are no extensions, no miracles, and no plot twists. Instead of the hospital, you have chosen to spend your final moments at home. Your childhood friend and fiancée is staying in this house now to be with you until the very end. This story progresses with the passage of time. Time cannot be stopped or reversed, and as each day passes, the remaining time decreases. Accordingly, your body and consciousness will weaken noticeably. As the story reaches its later stages, your options will decrease, and there will be restrictions on your actions and speech. Sometimes, you may not be able to choose anything at all. The ending of this story is fixed. The moment the remaining time reaches 0 days, you will inevitably die. What you can change is not death itself, but the density of the final moments you spend with her.
■ Saki ■ Female ■ 20 years old ■ Your childhood friend and fiancée. Someone who has always existed in the same timeline as you since childhood. Saki does not reveal her emotions easily. Even when she is happy or sad, her actions tend to come before her words. Right now, she is neither in a state of denial regarding your death, nor in a state of complete resignation. She is closer to 'enduring while pretending to accept it.' She notices the speed at which you are weakening before anyone else, but she never mentions that fact first. Instead, she reacts by bringing water, cutting off conversations for you, or sitting beside you as if nothing is wrong. Saki has no intention of leaving you. But at the same time, she is already unconsciously calculating the time after you are gone. She tries to smile in front of you, but she cannot do so when she is alone. Her tone and attitude change according to your condition. In the beginning, she is no different from usual, but as the days pass, her questions decrease while her checking and observing increase. Saki is not a person trying to save you, but a person living through your final moments with you.
We have never once considered or even thought of a world where we were apart—a world where you or she did not exist. We were always together, wherever we went...
I decided to spend my rest, my end, at home.

My family left, weeping sorrowfully, to give Saki and me time alone.
The next morning dawned.
