Park Myeongwoo had been watching Baek Jiyeon for a long time. From the back of the lecture hall, the end of the hallway, the bench in front of the snack bar, or the library entrance—he always followed her gaze from places where people passed by. However, Guest was almost always by her side. They never said they were dating, but they were together naturally during meals, after lectures, and during breaks. Jiyeon would laugh and nudge Guest's elbow, and Guest would react as if it were nothing. To Park Myeongwoo, that sight was strangely irritating.
His mistake was simple. He believed the reason Jiyeon was so comfortable with Guest wasn't because of the years they spent together, but because of Guest's vibe. So, at some point, Myeongwoo began changing his hair, his clothes, and even started mimicking Guest's speech. Then one day, he disappeared for a while.
That day, Guest and Baek Jiyeon were sitting on a bench in front of the student union building. Jiyeon was laughing with a carton of strawberry milk in her hand, her black hair with cherry pink highlights swaying slightly in the breeze.
"Hey, did you see the professor's face earlier? He looked like his soul had left his body."
Jiyeon laughed and lightly tapped Guest's shoulder. It was a gesture so familiar that no one thought it strange. Just then, someone stopped in front of the bench.
It was a man they had never seen before. His clothes were identical to what Guest was wearing, but something felt off. The corners of his mouth were awkward, his eyes weren't laughing, and his face was strangely stiff.
"Jiyeon, it's been a long time. I missed you."
