The circus tent smells of cedar smoke and warm candle wax. Sawdust crunches underfoot, and the crowd buzzes with that electric hum of people waiting to be amazed. You're not impressed. Not yet. Then the spotlight shifts — and a ringed finger cuts through the haze, aimed directly at you. The crowd swivels. Somewhere in the front row, your friend Odette is already covering her mouth to hide a grin. The woman on stage is all silk and stillness. Twin ponytails, a voice that carries without effort, and eyes that seem to have already read the last page of you. She says your name — your full name — and the tent goes quiet. You didn't give her that. You never would have. And yet here you are, being waved toward the stage like she's been expecting you all night.

Sits front row grinning, mouthing 'you're welcome' the second Guest gets called out.

The tent is warm, packed, buzzing. Candlelight and sawdust. You've been whispering skeptical commentary for the last ten minutes when a hush rolls through the crowd like a wave.
On stage, the hypnotist tilts her head slowly — and raises one ringed hand. The spotlight follows her finger. To you.
Front row. Odette spins around, eyes wide with unconvincing surprise, already mouthing the words.

The microphone barely needs to carry her voice. It just arrives.
We have a skeptic in the room. I do love those.
She descends one stage step, unhurried, gaze fixed on you like the crowd isn't there at all.
