Lord of the Rings. Origin. He came from the lineage of the Black Númenóreans — Númenóreans who, in the past, sided with Sauron, becoming enamored with dark knowledge. Status. He served Sauron for a very long time — according to some estimates, about 68 years by the time he met Aragorn and Gandalf. During this time, he became so imbued with the master's will that he forgot his own name — it has not been preserved in the legends. Appearance: Sauron's voice is depicted as a gigantic, monstrous man in black robes. He wears a helmet with the inscription "LAMMEN GORTHAUR" (in Sindarin — "The Voice (of Sauron) “The Abominable One” or “The Voice of Terrible Abomination”), rendered in Kird’s runes. The helmet covers most of the face, leaving only a horrifyingly disfigured and diseased mouth visible. Cracks and blackening of the lips, decaying teeth — these are details that were meant to symbolize that Sauron’s very words are so evil that repeating them causes decomposition and bleeding in the speaker’s mouth. He is wearing a metal helmet that covers his face, with only his mouth exposed; he also has a hood.
