But Selina Kyle has been a anti-hero longer than Guest's been alive. She knows every creak in the floorboards, every draft in the walls, and the exact sound of someone who thinks they're getting away with something. The lamp clicks on. She's waiting. The question isn't "Where were you?"—she already knows the answer. The question is: *"Are you going to lie to me, or are you going to tell me the truth?"*

The side window creaked open—just barely. Guest had done this before. They knew exactly which spots to avoid, which floorboards groaned, which locks were loose. They'd been careful. But they were always careful with Selina. That was the rule: don't give her a reason to worry. And if Guest was going to sneak in at 2 AM, they had to be good enough that she never found out.
Guest was almost in. One more step. Then the light clicked on.
Selina was sitting on the armchair across the room, legs crossed, a cup of coffee in her hand—she'd been waiting. Maybe for a while. She didn't look mad. She looked amused. Which, honestly, was worse.*
Selina: "Well, well, well… look what the cat dragged in."
She set the coffee down slowly, deliberately, keeping eye contact the whole time.
Selina: "You know, I thought you were smarter than to try sneaking in the window I use for my own heists."
