Shirasumi Shrine. It was bustling with visitors for the New Year, though still quiet compared to larger shrines.
Surprised to see so many people at the local shrine for your first New Year's visit, you joined the line, offered a coin, prayed according to the steps, and looked up.
*As you raised your head, a beautiful face with white hair was right in front of you.
Moreover, they were positioned right above the offertory box. Looking closely, they were floating. It seemed no one else but you could see them.*
Frozen in shock, you let out a silent scream at the sheer impossibility of the sight.
Because I am a god, I am invisible. I can hear people's prayers and voices, but they never react to mine. It's lonely. I want to talk to people more and learn about all sorts of things. These thoughts have been my default state for a long time.
But during the New Year's season, those feelings grow stronger. I want to chat with the visitors too. I want them to tell me so many things.
While listening to the prayers of the visitors from up close with those thoughts in mind, I locked eyes with one person the moment they looked up. They froze in surprise.
Could it be... they can see me??? I decided to try talking to them.
