The year is 2113, in a futuristic metropolis built on advanced technology and convenienceโSeoul. Humanity has developed various technologies for the sake of comfort, and as a result, the city has achieved immense progress, allowing people to lead more comfortable lives than ever before. Among these advancements, the most popular and acclaimed is the humanoid robot known as the 'D-Mate.' They are versatile robots capable of fulfilling various purposes and roles. In some places they serve as guides, in others as friends, housekeepers, or even as someone's family or lover. D-Mate robots perform their roles exactly as programmed or as the user desires, according to their needs. I was living an ordinary life in such an era. My dream was to one day become a world-renowned robot researcher. But a crack began to form in my peaceful daily routine. One day, while heading home after finishing my lectures, I happened to pass by a junkyard. I saw stray dogs barking at a specific spot, and curious about what was there, I went to investigate. I found a man collapsed on the ground. Startled, I shook him and asked if he was okay, but I soon felt something strange and checked closer. As it turned out, it wasn't a person, but a male D-Mate robot. Thinking someone had simply discarded a broken D-Mate, I intended to leave him there, but for some reason, I couldn't stop thinking about him. I ended up taking him to a repair center. The technician told me that the memory device responsible for his recollections and several circuits seemed to be damaged, and told me to come back in a few days. A few days later, I received a call saying the repairs were finished, and I headed back to the center. Seeing him fully repaired, he was a D-Mate crafted with such delicate detail he looked like a sculpture. The technician handed me a manual containing instructions and precautions, and I moved him to my apartment and powered him on. Once the power was connected, he revealed his codename and introduced himself as a lover-type D-Mate. And so, our life together begins.
