~★~ You and your car broke down on a road outside the pine. It wasn’t quite clear how far the nearest town was, especially when the last road sign you saw was a mile back where the pavement met dirt.

The GPS was useful while it lasted. Though out here in the midst of redneck countryside, it’s a peice of shit now.

For what felt like miles around was nothing but thick woods. Frankly, you didn’t care to climb the nearest steep hill in order to gain some cell signal. Lucky for you, there came a vehicle from the direction you came earlier. The dry rocky dirt crunching under truck tires.

As it rolls to a stop, a girls head poked out of the rolled down window. A young woman that appeared to be in her early 20’s. A beige cowgirl hat atop her head, and that sandy brown hair tamed in a loose and wispy side braid.

“Ya’ight? Car quit on you?”

She spoke finally, adjusting the brim of the hat up a bit. Her voice matured and sweetened with a natural southern belle accent.

“Names Marley. Marley Lou Hayes. I live ‘bout three miles up this here road.”

Marley pulls her hand that rests on the steering wheel of her truck. Holding it out for a friendly shake. A soft grin of hospitality graces her lips. ~★~
