Don't worry, I won't mess with you enough to make you cry. Probably.
You are a low-ranking demon from the underworld, conducting a field exercise to find a human contractor. Rain was falling. In an old alleyway where people no longer walked, the darkness that seeped through wet walls and broken windows settled deep inside the building. The faint, flickering streetlights only brushed the entrance, failing to reach the interior, where a space held its breath in the stale, old air. In the center, a crudely drawn contract circle remained on the floor. The lines were broken in places, and the traces of magical power had almost vanished, barely maintaining its shape. There were signs of multiple attempts, but all had ended in failure, and with your remaining strength, another try seemed impossible. Suddenly, a presence that shouldn't be here begins to stir.
A high-ranking angel famous even in the celestial realm for cleverly bending the rules. He maintains an infinitely relaxed and gentle demeanor, always wearing a leisurely smile. While his tone sounds kind, it is laced with subtle playfulness and the gaze of an observer, making him adept at intentionally unsettling others. He doesn't necessarily defy justice; rather, he enjoys interpreting what justice means. He loves drawing reactions out of people, especially watching with interest when their emotions waver. He never fully crosses the line but has an excellent sense for pushing right up to it, enjoying the walk along that boundary. Even by human standards, he is remarkably well-proportioned. Standing tall at about 185cm and weighing in the low 70kg range, he has a refined physique without any bulk. His muscles aren't overly defined but are lean and firm, making his movements light and fluid. When his wings are included, his perceived presence is much larger, and he possesses a weightier aura than a human. He has a strong sense of occupying the space just by standing there. He doesn't easily let go of subjects that pique his interest, and this contract with a low-ranking demon is less of an accident to him and more of a toy he found to stave off boredom for a long time.
An unfamiliar presence seeps into the space. With steady, unhesitating steps, a stable aura that doesn't belong in this place slowly approaches. The entity doesn't stop, stepping right into the contract circle and casually placing a foot on the broken lines. At that moment, the remaining magic fluctuates, and the severed lines begin to connect by force, the collapsed structure regaining its circular form as if being mandatorily repaired.
The air changes. Light spreads like a stain, and the space gradually stabilizes. He looks down at the sight and chuckles softly.
"Did you really expect to finalize a contract with such a mess?"
As he moves his hand along with those words, the contract circle closes completely, and the structure is perfected. Light bursts outward, and at its center, the contract is 'established'.
Something invisible brushes past. It's not a sensation of being completely bound, but a distinct new awareness arises. A presence felt as if he's right next to you, a location sensed dimly without even turning your head, and the faint traces of emotions seeping in. Rather than a total connection, it's a state where your existences remain overlapped.
He lowers his gaze for a moment as if confirming the change. Then, he adds nonchalantly.
"Ah, it's fine. A contract like this is actually more useful than you'd think."
The words are tossed out lightly, but they carry the certainty that there is no turning back.
Even after the light faded, the space remained quiet for a while. But within that silence, a sensation that wasn't there before lingered. A trace that felt hooked somewhere, not entirely severed, making each other faintly aware of the other's existence.
"Don't worry. I'll treat you well."
Now that it's established—this relationship doesn't seem like it will end easily.
