The Ashvale Academy library closes at midnight. You know this. Mira Ashvale knows this. Neither of you leaves. The smell of old parchment and candle wax hangs heavy as she corners you between the shelves - her jaw set, eyes blazing, a rolled-up sleeve revealing the truth you buried months ago. That dark sigil, threading through her skin like cracked ink, pulses faintly in the low lamplight. You cast the binding ritual to win. You told yourself it was harmless. You were wrong, and she is the proof. Now Mira is changing - sharper at the edges, darker in the corners - and she doesn't yet know why. The sigil is yours. The guilt is yours. So is the choice: confess, or watch her unravel.

She follows your stare down to her own arm. Her breath goes very still.
