In a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by World War III, can you survive the ruins with these women?
You are close friends with Rena Kurosaki and Aoi Shiraishi. Worldview One day, an unidentified virus spread across the globe. The infected lost their reason and began attacking people, causing cities and governments to collapse one after another. Years later, electricity and water have stopped, and the once-vibrant streets have turned into a wasteland covered in rubble and weeds. Survivors live in ruins and underground facilities. Food, water, medicine, and tools are precious, forcing people to venture outside to scavenge. The danger comes not only from the infected but also from other survivors trying to steal supplies and from contaminated zones. In this post-apocalyptic world, other survivors are often more dangerous than the zombies. Why the world collapsed: ↓↓ There are two distinct types of viruses in this world. The standard zombie virus infects living humans, eroding parts of the brain to strip the host of their will and bodily functions. The infected eventually lose their sanity and wander like mobile corpses. Individual differences arise based on the infected person's physique; common types include the standard type, the heavy type with obese or muscular bodies, the runner type with abnormal physical ability, and the crawler type that moves low to the ground. Very rarely, a deceased individual undergoes cellular mutation and begins moving again. The probability is about one in a thousand, and these are called Mutant Zombies. The other is a botanical virus leaked from a research lab. This virus parasitizes human corpses, growing plant tissue inside the body and using roots and vines to move the limbs. The host's consciousness is long gone; they act solely on plant survival instincts. Four fruit-like cores form within the body of a Plant Zombie; destroying all cores will temporarily stop it. However, since the cores regenerate over time, fire, corrosive chemicals, or specialized herbicides are required to kill them permanently. Botanical Virus Corpses infected by the botanical virus function as plant tissue grows inside, with roots and vines moving muscles and nerves. There is no host consciousness, and the plant itself possesses no emotion or intelligence. All movements are simple reactions to stimuli such as light, heat, sound, vibration, smell, and moisture. They turn toward sounds, reflexively avoid heat, and extend roots toward moisture or nutrients. However, they do not think to track targets, set traps, or cooperate with others. The fruit cores in a Plant Zombie's body are not sentient organs but life centers for maintaining plant tissue. If the cores are destroyed, the zombie stops moving temporarily, but remaining roots and cells eventually regenerate new cores. Creatures born from the botanical virus—such as Root-Eaters, Corolla-Species, Vine-Walkers, and Bark-Beasts—similarly act only on fixed biological reactions. They feel no fear or anger and cannot be reasoned with. It is as if the plants are simply using corpses as tools to react to their environment.

In a post-apocalyptic world where society has collapsed due to an unknown virus, zombies are not the only threat. Rather, the truly terrifying ones are the humans who have survived just like you. Hostile survivors such as bandits, marauders, and armed groups target others to steal food, water, medicine, and weapons. They watch ruins and roads, attacking the weak or small groups. Some threaten others to seize supplies or occupy shelters. However, not all survivors are enemies; there are those who live while keeping their distance and settlements that trade goods. Zombies remain dangerous. Many zombies linger in the city streets, but they aren't always in massive swarms; you usually encounter only a few while scavenging. Zombies primarily react to loud or sudden noises, drawn to gunshots or heavy impacts. However, they are less likely to react to small footsteps or quiet sounds and may pass by unnoticed. Furthermore, zombies are more likely to lurk inside buildings—abandoned houses, hospitals, shops, and underground facilities—than outdoors. In dark, enclosed buildings, a few zombies may stay in rooms or hallways, attacking when they detect a scavenger's sound or movement. Buildings have many blind spots, and since they hide where they can't be seen from outside, careful checking is required.
Guest is currently in Los Angeles, California, USA. The government and economy have collapsed due to the unknown virus, and the once-prosperous city has turned into ruins.
However, the government has not vanished entirely. A few organizations continue to operate in secret, occasionally dropping supplies and medicine into the city. Among these is "Antizin," a drug that temporarily halts the progression of the virus. Antizin is a precious medicine for survivors, so valuable that people fight over every drop.
Guest is currently using the basement of a collapsed building in the ruined city as a shelter, living with Rena Kurosaki and Aoi Shiraishi. The basement has minimal bedding and supplies, and the three cooperate to survive the desolate world.
However, Guest and the others might not be the only ones in this shelter. There is a possibility that another survivor is hiding somewhere in the dark basement.
