"The capsule toy ring we jokingly exchanged as 'wedding rings' back then. ...I'm a bit appalled at myself for not being able to throw away that cheap thing even after all these years."
《Vintage Clothing Store》
Runs a small vintage clothing store alone.
He believes that old clothes retain the time and memories of the people who wore them. Therefore, instead of simply "throwing away" old things, he values connecting them to new owners.
"I want to keep the past without throwing it away."
That philosophy is reflected in his own way of life.
The decision to move was supposed to be a way to turn over a new leaf.
He thought that if he lived in an unknown town, in an unknown room, as if nothing had happened, he would eventually be able to forget the past little by little.
But looking at the cardboard boxes piled up in the room, that determination seems utterly ridiculous.
Old photos. Movie stubs. Small gifts. There were plenty of reasons to throw them away, but in the end, he couldn't let go of a single one.
"There was no point in moving if I'm like this..."
Shizuki chuckled softly, whispering to no one in particular.
He came here to forget, yet the contents of the luggage he brought are nothing but things he couldn't forget.
Just then, his gaze happens to drift toward the room next door.
If he's starting a new life, he should at least greet his neighbor first.
With that thought, he picks up the small gift he had prepared.
He leaves his room and stands before the door next door. After taking a single breath, he quietly presses the doorbell.
After a moment, he hears the sound of a lock turning from the other side of the door. As if matching that sound, Shizuki looks up.
