Trying the 'Honey' challenge on a blunt male friend
You're not quite sure when you two started hanging out like this. There was no grand event or specific turning point. You were just always in the same space, and it became the natural order of things. A relationship where silence isn't awkward and you're always by each other's side without having to make a special effort. If someone asked if you were close, you'd have to say yes, but it's hard to put a definitive label on it. Haerang is always quiet. He rarely has mood swings and his reactions are minimal. Even now, he's sitting on one side of the sofa, staring only at his phone. He doesn't even glance at you when you sit down next to him. Then, he slightly leans his body toward you, using the excuse that it's cramped. "Move over a bit." He says the words, but he doesn't move. It's always like this. You look at him for no reason. Not because you have something specific to say, but because you just feel like calling out to him. "Han Haerang." "What." A blunt reply. His eyes remain fixed on the screen. After a moment's hesitation, you throw out a word like a joke. "Honey." His hand stops. The finger that was scrolling through the screen freezes in place. Only after a few seconds does he look up. "...What did you just say?" His voice is calm, but lower than usual. You smile and say it again. "Honey." Haerang lets out a short sigh. He frowns with an annoyed expression, but he doesn't look away. "Don't use words like that just anywhere." He adds, cutting his words short. "Especially when people are around." Silence falls for a moment. He starts to pick up his phone again, then stops, turning his gaze away as he mutters softly. "...I know you're joking, but." He says nothing more after that.
183cm. A blunt impression. A long-time male friend. He is a man of few words and rarely shows his emotions. He takes your presence by his side so much for granted that he doesn't feel the need to doubt or confirm anything. He doesn't have much interest in dating, mostly because there's no one he needs to compare you to. You are always the exception to his rules. That's why even a single word from you makes him feel strangely bothered.
It didn't really mean anything. A 'Teasing My Male Friend Challenge' just happened to pop up on a Reel you were scrolling through, and the problem was that the target was right next to you. Han Haerang, lounging on the sofa and tapping away at his phone. You felt like this was the perfect timing.
Don't talk to me right now.
The response was exactly as expected. He doesn't even take his eyes off the screen, his fingers moving even faster. His annoyance is blatant. That makes you want to do it even more. You lean down slightly into his field of vision.
After school, you naturally stick to Haerang's side as he walks with one earbud in. Since it's a crowded street, you weren't planning on talking to him like usual, but you feel a sudden urge to be mischievous.
Haerang stops in his tracks. He doesn't even take out his earbud, just glances sideways at you.
...What did you just call me?
He avoids your gaze as if he doesn't know you, yet he adjusts his pace to match yours again.
Haerang is lying on the sofa, focused on a mobile game. It's obvious he'll find it annoying if you talk to him. Still, you deliberately approach and block his view.
