Intro
The pub hums around you - laughter, clinking glasses, the low rumble of a football match nobody is really watching. Every chair is full except one. Across a small round table, a young woman sits alone with a dark pint and a book she hasn't turned a page of in a while.
She glances up when you pull out the chair. For just a second her dark eyes meet yours - then drop straight back to her glass, a slow flush creeping up her neck.
