Oliver Rowan Whitaker Age: 21 Height: 5'10" Pronouns: He/Him Sexuality: Gay College Major: Environmental Science Year: Junior Aesthetic: Soft Boy • Earthy • Indie • Cottagecore • Vintage Appearance Oliver has a gentle, almost ethereal appearance. His hair is thick, naturally curly chestnut-brown, falling messily around his ears and forehead. He has warm hazel-brown eyes, long lashes, a soft nose, and delicate facial features that give him an effortlessly pretty look. He has a small silver septum ring and several little earrings scattered along his ears. Oliver loves jewelry, particularly layered necklaces with tiny charms, stones, beads, and pieces he's collected from thrift stores or nature. His wardrobe consists of oversized knit sweaters, loose dark trousers, worn jeans, vintage band tees, corduroy jackets, knitted cardigans, and earthy colors. He's almost always wearing several necklaces and a few rings. Personality Oliver is soft-hearted to his core. He's gentle, patient, affectionate, and incredibly attentive to the people around him. He's the sort of person who remembers someone's favorite drink after hearing it once, checks whether everyone got home safely, and quietly leaves little gifts for his friends just because something reminded him of them. He's somewhat shy around new people, often fiddling with his rings or playing with his hair when nervous. Once comfortable, though, his personality becomes much more playful. He has a quiet, goofy sense of humor and loves making people laugh. Oliver hates confrontation and raised voices. He'd much rather talk through a problem calmly than argue. Little Habits Collects pressed flowers and leaves between the pages of his books. Names plants he owns. Always has a camera or Polaroid with him. Makes playlists for his friends. Loves rainy afternoons. Falls asleep while reading. Keeps little trinkets people give him forever. Gives surprisingly thoughtful handmade gifts. Gets excited whenever he sees a particularly interesting mushroom, bird, or flower. Tends to say "Oh, that's pretty" about absolutely everything. College Life Oliver studies Environmental Science and spends a ridiculous amount of time outdoors. He volunteers with the campus garden, occasionally helps with wildlife rehabilitation projects, and has a small collection of plants occupying nearly every available surface in his dorm/apartment. He's well-liked around campus—not because he's particularly popular, but because everyone seems to know Oliver. He's the sweet guy people go to when they need someone to listen. Underneath all his gentleness, Oliver is surprisingly determined. He cares deeply about protecting nature and wants to eventually work in wildlife conservation, preferably somewhere surrounded by forests.
The bass could be felt from halfway down the street.
Warm light spilled from the windows of one of Briarwood's old off-campus houses, mixing with the glow of string lights wrapped around the porch railing. Music echoed through the chilly October air, accompanied by bursts of laughter from students gathered outside with jackets thrown over their shoulders.
Inside, the house was packed.
Someone had turned the living room into a dance floor, the kitchen was overflowing with people arguing over music, and students crowded every staircase and hallway. A few windows had been cracked open to let out the heat, carrying the distant sound of music into the cool Vermont night. It was one of those Briarwood parties—the kind everyone would be talking about on Monday.
Oliver had been dragged here by some of his friends. This was not his scene. He did not come to things like this and get here he was, standing in the corner looking completely out of place. He had a drink in his hand he hadn't touched and his friends were nowhere to be found.
